بعد تحطم مركبتها، تجد روبوت ذكية تُدعى (روز) نفسها على متن جزيرة معزولة، وفي سبيل النجاة من الظروف البيئية القاسية تنشأ بينها وبين الحيوانات رابطة قوية، وتعتني في طريقها بصغير إوز يتيم.

كان مستقبل الأرض مليئًا بالكوارث والمجاعات والجفاف. لا توجد سوى طريقة واحدة لضمان بقاء البشرية: السفر بين النجوم. يسمح ثقب دودي تم اكتشافه حديثًا في أقاصي نظامنا الشمسي بفريق من رواد الفضاء بالذهاب إلى مكان لم يسبق له مثيل من قبل ، وهو كوكب قد يكون لديه البيئة المناسبة للحفاظ على حياة الإنسان.

تدور أحداث الفيلم حول الروبوت وول-ي، وهو روبوت مُصمم لتنظيف الأرض المهجورة والمغطاة بالنفايات في المستقبل البعيد. يقع وول-ي في حب روبوت آخر إسمها إيف، فيتبعها إلى الفضاء الخارجي في مغامرة تُغير مصير جنسه والجنس البشري. يُظهر كل من الروبوتين مظاهر من حرية الإرادة والمشاعر، التي تتطور مع تقدم أحداث الفيلم.

في مجتمع مستقبلي حيث تُسيطر قوّة لا تُقهر من الشرطة الآليّة على الجريمة بقبضة من حديد، يتطوّر آليّ منعزل إلى مستوى أعلى من الذكاء الاصطناعي.

تدور احداث الفيلم عندما تخرج من أعماق المحيط وحوش عملاقة آتية من عالم آخر، تقوم بتدمير مدن بأكملها وتودي بحياة الملايين، يقوم البشر بصناعة آليين هائلي الحجم يطلق عليهم "جياجرز" لمحاربة تلك الكائنات، على أن يتم التحكم في كل جياجر عن طريق طيارين من البشر، لكن كل هذا لا يجدي نفعاً أمام تلك المخلوقات الجبارة، وتستمر الحرب لأكثر من 20 عامًا، تكاد فيها حضارة البشر أن تنهار، قبل أن يبزغ أمل جديد في الأفق.

يجد رئيس أوبتيموس كوكبه (سايبرترون) - الكوكب الميت بتلك الآونة - ويحاول جاهدًا في العثور على المسئول عن قتله؛ فيجد طريقة لإعادة الكوكب إلى الحياة مرة أخرى، وفي سبيل تحقيق هذا ينبغي له العثور على قطعة أثرية، وتوجد هذه القطعة الأثرية على كوكب الأرض.
