عند اكتشاف وجود نفط في "أوكلاهوما" خلال العشرينيات على أرض أمة "أوساج"، يتعرض قوم "أوساج" إلى التقتيل واحداً تلو الآخر، حتى يتدخل "إف بي آي" لحلّ اللغز.

تدور أحداث الفيلم حول مجموعة من الصحافيين الذين يعملون في مقر جريدة أمريكية تقع في مدينة فرنسية خيالية خلال القرن العشرين، وهو ما يبعث الحياة لمجموعة من القصص المنشورة فيها.

تنتقل "روزماري" مع زوجها الممثل الطموح إلى شقة جديدة في بناية يكتنفها الغموض، ويتقرب إليهما عجوزان من الجيران ويعاملونهما بالود والحنان رغم شكوك الزوجة منهم، لتبدأ تحلم "روزماري" في نومها بأحلام غريبة وتسمع أصواتًا مخيفة ومزعجة، وعندما تشعر بأعراض الحمل، تخشى على جنينها وتزداد مخاوفها من اﻷجواء المحيطة.
