طفلة تنتقل إلى منزل جديد، تعاني فيه من انشغال والديها بالعمل على تأليف بعض الكتب، تحصل على دمية كهدية من طفل الجيران، ثم تتمكن من الانتقال لعالم موازي من العرائس يحققون ويلبون كل طلباتها، فقط مقابل أن تبقى معهم عليها أن تتخلى عن عينيها وتضع مكانيهما زرين، فماذا يحدث؟
تدور أحداث الفيلم عن مدينة للوحوش. شركة المرعبين المحدودة هي شركة توليد الطاقة للمدينة، والتي تستعمل كمصدر للطاقة صراخ الأطفال، لهذا يحاولون تخويفهم. وفي محاولة أحد الموظفين (راندل) بالاتفاق مع مدير الشركة أبو عنكبوت لتوفير الطاقة والتي أصبحت الشركة تعانى من قلتها بسبب عدم خوف الاطفال من المخوفاتيه يقوم هذا الموظف باختراع جهاز مهمته أن يأخذ الصراخ من الأطفال بالقوه. يكتشف شلبى سلوفان عن وجود باب بعد ساعات العمل، ومن هذا الباب تدخل طفله إلى مدينة المرعبيين. وهنا تبدأ الأحداث حيث يسعى شلبى سلوفان وماردوشوشنى إلى إعادة الطفلة إلى بيتها في ظل مطاردة من اندل للقبض على الطفلة وتجربة الجهاز عليها. أثناء هذه المطاردة يكتشفون ان مدير الشركة أبو عنكبوت مشترك في هذه الجريمة. وبعد عدة أحداث يتم القبض على أبو عنكبوت ويتم نفى اندل إلى عالم البشر. كما يكتشفون مصدر جديد للطاقة بدلا من تخويف وهو الضحك. ويستلم شلبى سلوفان إدارة الشركة والتي تعود للنمو من جديد.
تتجول "شيهيرو" في عالم سحري تحكمه ساحرة - تقوم بتحويل كل من يعصيها إلى حيوانات.
هناك عوالم أخرى غير هذه صبي تطارده رؤى عالم مواز يساعد الوصي المحبط في منع تدمير رابطة الأكوان المعروفة باسم البرج المظلم.
تدور أحداث الفيلم حول عميل المسافر عبر الزمن فاليريان (دان ديهان)، والذي يذهب في مهمة لحماية عالم ألفا الشاسع من قوى الظلام التي تحيق بها، وبصحبته شريكته لوريلاين (كارا ديلفن).
مجموعة صغيرة من العلماء والأطباء النفسيين تخترع في المستقبل القريب جهازاً يدعى MiniDC، وهو أشبه بتاج إلكتروني يُلبسه الطبيب رأس النائم مما يخول له الاتصال بأحلامه وتسجيلها على جهاز الكمبيوتر. وفي حال لبسه الطبيب أيضاً ثم نام بجانب المريض، فإنه يستطيع مشاركته الحلم والتفاعل فيه أيضاً! هكذا كان الهدف إنسانياً ونبيلاً، لكن واحدة من قطع الـ MiniDC قد سرقت، ويتوجب على Paprika ورفاقها دخول أحلام أحد النائمين في مغامرات حابسة للأنفاس من أجل معرفة السارق….
