Fox Movietone News

This film examines the reasons why the United States decided to engage in the Korean War. Scenes describe Russia's attempt to gain power following World War II (Korea included), and its refusal to allow free elections in the country. Footage shows Soviet-backed North Korean troops' movement into South Korea on June 25, 1950, the United Nations' response, and the armed struggle against both North Korean and later Chinese troops led by General Douglas MacArthur. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation in 2005.

On May 20-21, 1927, Charles A. Lindbergh flew alone, non-stop from New York to Paris, in a single-engine plane without parachute or radio. With this feat, Lindbergh became perhaps the greatest hero of the decade. Fox Movietone's sound film record of Lindbergh's take-off was the first popular sensation of sound film; it was soon augmented by coverage of his welcome in Washington on June 11th.

Movietone News produced this short (two-minute) sing-along version of United States' national anthem featuring the popular chorus, "Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians." While the Star-Spangled Banner is sung, a patriotic montage of scenes appears in the background.
