Three vacuum cleaner salesmen go door-to-door selling dreams of dust-free homes and personal ambitions in a bleak Finland hit by the worst recession in history.
The film Soup is the story of a trip in search of lost time. Only instead of Marcel Proust’s Madeleine cookie, the chicken soup by Podravka, well remembered by many generations in former Soviet countries and in Eastern Europe, is the triggering element.
Young man loses his job as a recruiter at the network marketing hoax. Being forced to leave his employers quarters he ends up in the streets and bumps into a young girl, an outcast who has recently lost her mother. He moves in her shabby flat – just to get through the worst, with no romantic intentions. A fatal mistake, involving a middle-class suburbia, a time bank system and a battered couple change plans.
Never-ending coffee break… Three eternal students have chosen a lifestyle, that can not be measured by the standards of gain and productivity used by the outside world. In the midst of modern times, where people come, go and change, they have decided to halt and concentrate on the core questions of existence.
