V několika dnech, kdy se Winston Churchill stal britským premiérem, musel čelit té nejdivočejší a nejzásadnější zkoušce – buď vyjednat mírovou smlouvu s nacistickým Německem nebo bojovat za ideály a svobodu národa. Nezastavitelné síly nacistů rukují západní Evropou a hrozba invaze je čím dál větší. Lid je nepřipraven, král skeptický, vlastní strana stojí proti němu… Churchill musí musí sjednotit národ a vydat se směrem, který změní historii.

Neposlušný princ Hal se musí změnit z násosky v krále válečníka. Jeho bitvu o osud Anglie provázejí projevy nepřátelství za hradbami i v nejbližším okolí.

Anglie, 11. století. Vilém Dobyvatel (asi 1027-1087) vítězí v bitvě u Hastingsu (1066) a mění podobu středověké Evropy a běh anglických dějin. Vyprávění o životě výjimečného normanského válečníka, který se stal králem.

Odvážnou vlakovou loupež, která vstoupila do dějin kriminalistiky, uskutečnil v roce 1855 lupič-gentleman Edward Pierce. Jeho cílem se stal vlak dopravující velké množství zlata na platy vojáků v Krymské válce. V románové, značně zromantizované podobě zachytil celou událost známý spisovatel Michael Crichton a poté, co se jeho kniha stala bestsellerem, ji jako režisér sám převedl na filmové plátno. Můžete tu sledovat pečlivé naplánování celé akce a dlouhé přípravy. Než se totiž vlak rozjede, je nejdůležitější částí loupeže krádež a duplikace čtyř klíčů, potřebných k otevření trezoru ve vlaku. Každý klíč však pečlivě hlídá jeden člen bankovní společnosti. Pierce musí vymyslet důmyslné způsoby jak se jich zmocnit, v čemž mu pomáhají jeho společníci: Miriam, dáma s pochybnou pověstí, která pro úspěch plánu neváhá použít ani své tělo, a schopného kasaře a duplikátora klíčů Agara. Hlavní atrakcí filmu je však samotná loupež, kterou kamera sleduje doslova krok za krokem.

Letecká bitva o Británii, jedna z největších bojových akcí druhé světové války. Odehrává se v době od května do září roku 1940, kdy se nacistické Německo pokusilo o invazi do Británie a jeho letectvo svedlo pod vedením maršála Göringa leteckou bitvu proti početně mnohem slabšímu anglickému RAF. Statečný boj vyčerpaných anglických pilotů proti početně mnohem silnějšímu nepříteli patří k nejslavnějším kapitolám druhé světové války.

Životopisní snímek Amazing Grace se zabývá osobností Williama Wiberforcera (Ioan Gruffudd), který byl významným politikem a hlavně bojovníkem za zrušení otroctví v Anglii na přelomu 18. a 19. století. Film ukazuje část jeho života, začíná v jeho 34 letech, kdy unavený nekonečnou snahou o změnu práv černochů odjíždí na venkov, potkává krásnou Barbaru (Romola Garai) - ženu (a budoucí manželku), která sdílí jeho názory. Film střídá vyprávění Barbaře a současnost, která končí rokem 1807. W. Wilberforce zemřel roku 1833, pouhý měsíc před odhlasování zákona zakazující otroctví.

Polovina 30. let znamenala pro šedesátiletého Winstona Churchilla velký boj s mnoha démony. Velký státník jako by zpohodlněl.

Satira o viktoriánské Anglii v době války ukazuje v plné nahotě rozdíly mezi aristokracií a nejnižšími společenskými vrstvami. Herecký koncert Vanessy Redgrave a Johna Gielguda. Během neblahého nasazení britských jednotek v Balaklavě během Krymské války byli věrní vojáci, kteří slepě poslouchali rozkazy, posláni na jistou smrt. Snímek se může také pyšnit skvělým hereckým obsazením, jemuž dominují Trevor Howard, John Gielgud a Vanessa Redgrave.

Time Team is a British television series which has been aired on British Channel 4 from 1994. This team of specialists changed throughout the series' run, although has consistently included professional archaeologists such as Mick Aston, Carenza Lewis, Francis Pryor and Phil Harding. Winston Churchill: The Wilderness Years is an 8-part 1981 drama serial based on the life of Winston Churchill, and particularly his years in enforced exile from political position during the 1920s and 30s. It was written and directed by Ferdinand Fairfax and Churchill was played by Robert Hardy. Hardy's brilliant performance as Churchill won critical acclaim and a BAFTA award in 1982.
