Em plena Segunda Guerra Mundial, o resultado do combate de Guadalcanal influenciará fortemente o avanço dos japoneses no Pacífico. Então um grupo de soldados americanos é enviado para lá para ajudar as unidades já em batalha. Porém, os soldados conhecem o verdadeiro terror da guerra, mas no meio desse desespero surgem fortes laços de amizade.
