Za nimi čaká prekvapenie.Alternatívny svet, ktorý sa na prvý pohľad podobá tomu reálnemu, ale na druhý už úplne iný – lepší. Jej alternatívni rodičia sa jej venujú, alternatívny Wybie nie je ani trochu otravný a zo susedov sa stali najzábavnejší ľudia pod slnkom. Koralínu dokonca napadne, či by jej v tejto dokonalejšej verzii existencie nebolo lepšie. Nebolo, čo sa jej neustále snaží naznačovať hovoriaci kocúr. Keď ho konečne poslúchne, je už neskoro.

V rozkvitajúcom meste Monstropolis žijú strašidlá všetkých tvarov a veľkostí. Hlavnými hrdinami sú vysoká zelenomodrá príšerka s rohami menom Sulley a jeho najlepší jednooký kamarát Mike Wazowski.
